After all of this time, I’d think that it would be hard to think of a simple way to make Google’s search function better. But this reader has come up with one:
You know how you never realized that TV was missing any important features till TiVo came along? I think it’s like that now with Google. You’re so used to its usefulness that you may not realize what could be missing.
Search for a business article or other data that changes frequently, and you’ll get tens of thousands of results. All sorted by “relevance.”
If the event happened recently, you’ll probably find it on the first or second results page. But if it’s not as recent, you won’t be able to find that article that you wanted from three months ago.
Or what if the information was from last year or some other time in the past?
Why not sort the search results BY DATE, to zero in on it more quickly? Because you can’t!
What matters me is how quickly I can find the article I wanted, not how quickly they can find 51,314 relevant ones.
Wait till Google finally offers this feature. Like TiVo, we’ll all wonder how we ever got along without it.
